Soaring Circle has always existed to promote bridging — long before the term reconciliation was popularized. As such, our organization is reflective of our heart for bridging. Our board and executive are majority Indigenous, and our staff and volunteers represent a beautiful blend of Indigenous and non-Indigenous citizens working together in solidarity to bring change to this land we all share.
Soaring Circle was for many years a volunteer-based organizations, until our growth required a minimum of salaried staff. We work hard to maximize the impact of every dollar. Our funding comes mainly from corporate and individual donors. We do not receive, nor do we seek, federal government funding.
Soaring Circle is a Canadian registered charity. By definition, a charity must first be registered as a non-profit to obtain charitable status with Revenue Canada.
Our charity is intentional about helping to build better relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada. Initially, the name was intended to create an emotional response from Canadians who had perhaps never considered their relationship to Indigenous peoples or who needed to reconsider colonial attitudes; for others who already felt strongly about communicating their allyship, the name compelled them to actively engage in positive actions. When we celebrated our 10th anniversary in 2023, we had long been anticipating a name change, given that the conversation has moved forward in Canada. We hired an Indigenous firm and consulted with local Indigenous partners in our headquarters area to choose our new name, Soaring Circle, which communicates the essence of our mission: to foster inclusion, to create heartfelt connection, and to elevate youth.
Your support helps us to serve more youth and expand our programs. Our zero-fee secure donation platform will send a charity receipt directly to your email.
