We are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of our 2024 Impact Report, outlining the remarkable progress we’ve made in bringing our vision for Sewcase to life as a powerful educational platform and program. This report will also feature the unique opportunities we’ve created for our students to express their voices and showcase their talents on a national stage.
As we celebrated our 10th year at the forefront of reconciliation and another successful film tour (Bones of Crows), this year also marked the sudden passing of our co-founder and DG, Iain Speirs. Despite the unspeakable sadness, we pulled together to become stronger, and as Iain would have wanted us to do, we steadfastly increased opportunities for youth and their communities.
This year marked the successful resumption of our signature film tours, through the acclaimed Bones of Crows. Additionally, we proudly launched a limited-edition product brand, WOVEN, in collaboration with the esteemed Indigenous-led company MINI TIPI. As schools fully reopened after pandemic lockdowns, they encountered significant teacher shortages. In response, we stepped in to support and worked diligently to deliver valuable resources.
During a challenging global pandemic, we conducted a thorough evaluation of our processes and programs, unleashing our creativity to enhance our impact for both our students and the planet. This year marked our initial, yet significant, strides toward advancing sustainability within our work, setting the stage for greater impact and innovations.
